Frequently Asked Questions About Hearing Aids
Q. I have been told my hearing loss cannot be helped with a hearing aid. Is this true?
A. Recent advancements in amplification technology have made it possible to assist individual hearing losses that could not have been helped a few years ago. Dry Creek Hearing Center offers an excellent selection of the latest in hearing aid technology, including a wide variety of assistive listening devices for special purpose communication needs.
Q. Will it be difficult to adjust to wearing a hearing aid?
A. No! You have already overcome the most difficult obstacle — admitting to yourself that you have hearing loss. In many individuals, hearing loss occurs gradually over a number of years, allowing them to grow accustomed to decreased audio input. By placing hearing aids, our Denver, Colorado patients are suddenly exposed to an onset of environmental sounds at normal decibel levels. It will take time for the wearer to become accustomed to the relative loudness of common sounds. Once this initial acclimatization occurs, most hearing aid users find their devices to be comfortable to wear and easy to use.
Q. Is it difficult to hear using hearing aids in the presence of background noise?
A. Recent advances in hearing aid technology, such as directional microphones and noise reduction circuits, have given users increased audibility in background noise. Although it is impossible to completely eliminate all background noise, today’s hearing aids are specifically designed to help reduce the interference of unwanted background sound.
Q. Where will I be able to purchase hearing aid batteries and/or get my hearing aid(s) serviced?
A. When you purchase your hearing aids, we commit to giving you a one year supply of batteries at no additional charge. These batteries can be dispensed at regular check-up visits, or they can be mailed to you. We service all of the hearing aids we dispense and will clean and check those instruments every six months at no cost during the three-year warranty period. If repairs cannot be made in the office, we will send your devices to the appropriate company for repair and provide you with a loaner instrument if necessary.
Q. Will my insurance company pay for my hearing aids?
A. Every insurance plan is different. We strongly recommend that you contact your insurance company directly to find out if hearing aids are covered by your plan.
In most cases, insurance covers the cost of a hearing test. So, what are you waiting for? Contact Dry Creek Hearing Center to schedule a complete hearing evaluation and hearing aid consultation today! The direct number for Dry Creek Hearing Center is 303-662-1177.
